At Alfa, our mutual patients are always our priority

With over 20 years of pharmacy practice experience across various patient care settings, we founded Alfa Specialty Pharmacy in 2007 to close service gaps and improve the lives of individuals with chronic conditions, complex medication regimens, and intellectual disabilities—especially those living in group homes.

Our Mission has always been clear: to minimize and prevent harm for every life we touch while easing the burden on caregivers. We define harm broadly—it can be clinical, medication-related, financial, or even logistical. We work to remove obstacles by advocating for our patients and proactively coordinating care with the broader healthcare team throughout Maryland and the Washington, D.C. metro area.

Our no-cost, home-based chronic care management program has significantly enhanced our patients’ quality of life, while helping them avoid hospitalizations and emergency room visits.

“Alfa Specialty Pharmacy’s Medication Management Program (MMP) has been lifesaving for my parents. No other pharmacy offers MMP in my practice area. As a physician with elderly parents, I was responsible for filling their weekly pill boxes, coordinating medical care, and making medication pickups/arranging deliveries. It was overwhelming and unsustainable. Alfa’s highly knowledgeable pharmacy team monitors my parents’ medication regimen. They identify risk of drug-drug interactions and side effects, assure proper medication dosing/timing, resolve insurance billing issues, and coordinate with multiple prescribers. My parents receive free home-delivery/visits and pill packaging in clearly labelled daily travel packets. My family is grateful to Dr. Zarfeshan and his talented Alfa Specialty Pharmacy Team."
“I really like the pill packaging and I would definitely recommend it to people who take many meds. I really enjoy talking to the pharmacy staff and appreciate how they go over and beyond my expectation and stay on top of things. Every month the pharmacy staff go over my medications and answer my questions.  They also ask me about my conditions and teach me something every time."
